Dr. Jonathan Kalika, DMD
Dentist & Owner of Dental Center of Scottsdale
Dr. Jonathan Kalika double majored in Physiology and Russian at UC Davis prior to attending Tufts Dental School in Boston. After graduating with his DMD from Tufts in 2004, Dr. Kalika joined the Dental Center of Mesa and has been providing exceptional dental care ever since. He is a member of the American Dental Association and has taken advanced courses in many areas of dentistry, including IV sedation for Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Kalika's goal as a dentist is to help anyone and everyone in need. He caters to all types of patients, both young and old and welcomes new patients to our office to experience the high-quality care that they deserve.
When not at work, Dr. Kalika enjoys spending time with his three children and is an avid sports enthusiast. He loves all types of sports and plays soccer in an adult league. Dr. Kalika also enjoys dirt biking, wakeboarding, and watersports.

Dr. Nicholas Mellum, DMD

Dr. Mellum became involved in dentistry because his father was a dentist and he practically grew up at his father's practice. Even though Dr. Mellum initially studied business and computers in college, he gravitated towards the healthcare field and eventually switched his academic focus. He earned his BS from the University of Oregon in 2002 and his DMD from Tufts University School of Medical Dentistry in 2006.
After graduating from Tufts, he returned to his hometown of Portland, OR and began working as an associate with his father. In 2010, his father retired and sold him the practice. Dr. Mellum spent the next few years expanding the business and ultimately purchasing and moving into a second larger practice in 2017.
With over 15 years of experience in dentistry, Dr. Mellum has performed many root canals and extractions, and has restored many implants as well. In 2019, he implemented 3D printing in his office for models, night guards and dentures. He also became a member of the American Society of Implant and Reconstructive Dentistry in 2020.
Dr. Mellum and his wife, Crystal, have been married 10 years. They have two children, Hannah and Lars. Hannah enjoys playing soccer and basketball. Lars enjoys baseball and flag football. As a family they enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, boating, fishing, swimming and more.
Dr. Mellum made the difficult decision to sell his Portland practice mid-career, to acommodate a move to Arizona in order to be closer to his extended family. He now practices in Arizona and is excited to explore the desert and begin caring for his new patients at Scottsdale Dental Center.
